  7. good evenging sir,
    i'm sathish(3rd bca),
    progect title steganography
    STEGANOGRAPHY
    Abstract
n In computer terms, it is the process of hiding a message within a larger one in such a way that others can not discern.
n In Current network system, transferring image and data over network is delay prone and less secure respectively.
n The objective is to securely and efficiently transfer data and image over the network respectively .

    Objective
To securely and efficiently transfer data and image over the network respectively
    Software Requirements
n Operating System : Windows 98 and higher version
n Java development kit 1.3 and higher version

    Problem Definition
n Now a days in the field of communication the most series problem is revealing of secrets between two parties by unauthorized users .
    PROPOSED SYSTEM:
Here comes the Steganography technique. In which data is embedded inside the image. So hacker can’t imagine that such a data is hidden inside it. And also we are providing a password to lock the data. At the sender, if he knows the password, then only he can unlock the data. One more securities to the data with good quality image as carrier medium.
n It provides a web oriented interface through which all the users can access the server for transferring image and data.
n Through negative JPEG, Packet transfer algorithms image size is reduced and transferred efficiently.

    Modules
    n NEGATIVE JPEG
    n PACKET TRANSFER
    n STEGANOGRAPHY
    – Data hiding using images
    – Data extraction from images
    – Data send through network
    – Data receive through network
    PACKET TRANSFER
n Here the image is decoded using JPEGImageDecoder and transferred.
n Before transferring the image is encoded using JPEGImageEncoder and stored in BufferedImage format.

    Data hiding using images
We are using Steganography method to hide data inside images. For this we started with the study of various image formats. The following section deals with the properties of images. To a computer image is an array of numbers that represent light intensities at various points, or pixels. 8-bit colour images can be used to hide information.

    Data extraction using images
Here the required image(Data hidden image) is send to the receiver through the network . Receiver will extract the data from the image through the secret password shared by both the sender and receiver.

    Data send through network
The data is send through the network . By making the software to be installed in the sending machine. And sending the required image (data hidden image ) by setting the send option to a ok position.

    Data receive through network
The data is received through the network by making the software to be installed in the receiving machine. And receiving the required image (data hidden image) by setting the receive option to a ok position. The data is extracted by using the secret password .

    Java Platform
Java (software platform) and Java Virtual Machine
One characteristic of Java is portability, which means that computer programs written in the Java language must run similarly on any supported hardware/operating-system platform. This is achieved by compiling the Java language code to an intermediate representation called Java bytecode, instead of directly to platform-specific machine code. Java bytecode instructions are analogous to machine code, but are intended to be interpreted by a virtual machine (VM) written specifically for the host hardware. End-users commonly use a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on their own machine for standalone Java applications, or in a Web browser for Java applets.
Standardized libraries provide a generic way to access host-specific features such as graphics, threading and networking.
A major benefit of using bytecode is porting. However, the overhead of interpretation means that interpreted programs almost always run more slowly than programs compiled to native executables would, and Java suffered a reputation for poor performance. This gap has been narrowed by a number of optimization techniques introduced in the more recent JVM implementations.

    Implementations
Sun Microsystems officially licenses the Java Standard Edition platform for Linux, Mac OS X, and Solaris. Although in the past Sun has licensed Java to Microsoft, the license has expired and has not been renewed. Through a network of third-party vendors and licensees, alternative Java environments are available for these and other platforms.
Sun's trademark license for usage of the Java brand insists that all implementations be "compatible". This resulted in a legal dispute withMicrosoft after Sun claimed that the Microsoft implementation did not support RMI or JNI and had added platform-specific features of their own. Sun sued in 1997, and in 2001 won a settlement of $20 million as well as a court order enforcing the terms of the license from Sun.As a result, Microsoft no longer ships Java with Windows, and in recent versions of Windows, Internet Explorer cannot support Java applets without a third-party plugin. Sun, and others, have made available free Java run-time systems for those and other versions of Windows.

    Performance
Programs written in Java have a reputation for being slower and requiring more memory than those written in some other languages. However, Java programs' execution speed improved significantly with the introduction of Just-in-time compilation in 1997/1998 for Java 1.1, the addition of language features supporting better code analysis, and optimizations in the Java Virtual Machineitself, such as HotSpot becoming the default for Sun's JVM in 2000.

  9. Automatic memory management
Java uses an automatic garbage collector to manage memory in the object lifecycle. The programmer determines when objects are created, and the Java runtime is responsible for recovering the memory once objects are no longer in use. Once no references to an object remain, theunreachable memory becomes eligible to be freed automatically by the garbage collector. Something similar to a memory leak may still occur if a programmer's code holds a reference to an object that is no longer needed, typically when objects that are no longer needed are stored in containers that are still in use. If methods for a nonexistent object are called, a "null pointer exception" is thrown.[26][27]
One of the ideas behind Java's automatic memory management model is that programmers be spared the burden of having to perform manual memory management. In some languages memory for the creation of objects is implicitly allocated on the stack, or explicitly allocated and deallocated from the heap. Either way, the responsibility of managing memory resides with the programmer. If the program does not deallocate an object, a memory leak occurs. If the program attempts to access or deallocate memory that has already been deallocated, the result is undefined and difficult to predict, and the program is likely to become unstable and/or crash. This can be partially remedied by the use of smart pointers, but these add overhead and complexity. Note that garbage collection does not prevent 'logical' memory leaks, i.e. those where the memory is still referenced but never used.
Garbage collection may happen at any time. Ideally, it will occur when a program is idle. It is guaranteed to be triggered if there is insufficient free memory on the heap to allocate a new object; this can cause a program to stall momentarily. Explicit memory management is not possible in Java.

    Java Technology
To date, the Java platform has attracted more than 6.5 million software developers. It's used in every major industry segment and has a presence in a wide range of devices, computers, and networks.
Java technology's versatility, efficiency, platform portability, and security make it the ideal technology for network computing. From laptops to datacenters, game consoles to scientific supercomputers, cell phones to the Internet, Java is everywhere!
Java powers more than 4.5 billion devices including:
    · 800+ million PCs
    · 2.1 billion mobile phones and other handheld devices (source: Ovum)
    · 3.5 billion smart cards
    · Set-top boxes, printers, Web cams, games, car navigation systems, lottery terminals, medical devices, parking payment stations, and more.

    project title : cyber eye

The project “Cyber Eye” is designed using Microsoft Visual
Studio.Net 2003 as front end and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as backend which works
in .Net framework version 2.0. The coding language used is VB .Net.

The basic idea behind this project is to computerize the communication between the reception section and the internal office. Cyber Eye provides an efficient way of implementing the security system. Using this system, it is possible to send the information about the visitors to the higher authority of the organization. The highlight of this project is not only sending the textual message but also sending the snapshot of the visitor as an image. This technique is implemented using the web camera and necessary software tools. This is a generalized project so that it can be used in any organization like factories, colleges etc. One system is installed in the reception with the camera. The snapshots of the visitor is taken and send to another system which is usually kept on the table of the higher authority, along with the additional information such as visitor name, designation etc. The higher authority takes the decision whether to allow the visitor or not. Cyber Eye can be established and worked only in a network. It is not only a security system, which passes the information to the higher authority but also stores the snapshot of the visitor for the future reference.

  38. Respected sir,
I am S.Dhanalakshmi III MCA here i attach the left documents of my project,

    Terminal Management

    Objective:
The project is titled “Terminal management” proposes to handle all the shipping process in a Harbour. The processes that are dealt in shipping management are route and tariff about shipments.

    Scope:
Ports are generally known as the gateway to international trade. About 90% of total world cargoes are carried by sea. Ports, therefore, play a significant role in serving maritime transport and international trade.

    Purpose:
This product provides integrated shipment for all harbors. Stand-Alone – for non-interfaced installations (this process is shown in screens shots on the following pages). A Consignee code must be entered to identify the destination. Semi-Automatic – for interfaced installations where User intervention is still desired or required. User enters Order Number and all or partial order information is captured through the interface. User can add to or change data and make decisions about carriers to be used. Automatic – for high volume interfaced installations where all pertinent data is sent via the interface and no User intervention is required. This configuration offers the highest speed and efficiency.
    Thanking you
